Diabetic testing strip prices added.

Prices for diabetic testing strips were added to the Medication Pricing section of Leslie's List today. We have included Accucheck Advantage/Comfort Curve/Aviva, Abbott Freestyle Lite/Freedom, One Touch Ultra, Bayer Contour/Breeze and each pharmacy's in-store brand.

One observation:

The in-store brand of machines and testing strips is by far the least expensive alternative. This is sort of the "generic" alternative to the branded machines.

The store-branded machine/strip prices are as follows:

CVS- $15/$33 for 50 strips
Walgreens- $30/$32 for 25 strips
Target (Easy Pro)- $9/$24 for 50 strips
Walmart (Relion Ultima)- $9/$20 for 50 strips
Kmart (American Fare)- $20/$30 for 50 strips
Osco (Equal Line)- $19 /$25 for 50 strips

Except for the Walgreens strips, the rest of these strips are roughly 1/2 as expensive as the name-brand strips.

Beware when some of the name-brand manufacturers are "giving away" the machines, because the strips are what end up costing the big bucks in the long run.

I learned about a cheaper meter/strips from David Mendosa,<www.mendosa.com>, a great source for information on diabetes.
Maxima AST blood glucose test strips 1 box is $16.99, 3-6 boxes of 50 -$15.99 - 6 or more $14.99.
The meter by itself is $9.99 but there is a deal/ meter and 100 strips for 33.95.
I ordered this from Hocks.com. If you order a certain amount shipping is free.
I went from trying to buy accu-chek strips on ebay to just ordering them here.
A much better deal.
Other reviews are available on Hocks site.
